Black Placemaking:
We Are Here for the Hood
BBM recognizes the importance of Black placemaking. Historically these spaces are where Black and Brown people can gather, ideate and share stories, information and happiness despite the structural barriers that face our Black and Brown communities of color.
BBM strives to be a part of the fabric that continues this legacy and offer a space that serves the community through collective economics, creativity and Black spatial resistance. |
Our Foundation
At the Boston Black Market and Arts Enrichment Center our structure is based in the NGUZO SABA. These are the seven principals of Kwanzaa. These principles include: Unity, Self-Determination, Collective Work and Responsibility, Cooperative Economics, Purpose, Creativity and Faith. These principals offer us a spectrum of ways to develop and enhance our humanity in relationship to our community, Philadelphia and the world.
Ujamaa: Cooperative Economics and Kuumba: Creativity are the principals that help guide the work we do. |
